Corey Plotkin
Adventure Counselor & Asst. Program Director, 3rd Year Staff Member
California State University, Chico, Political Science
Corey is back for his third year at Roughing It! He will be joining us as the assistant program director this summer. Corey attends California State University, Chico and is majoring in political science. He has volunteered to collect school supplies and playground equipment for the Coronado School in Richmond, volunteered at the public library to read with young children, and volunteered at CAVE. He has experience tutoring middle school students, and while studying abroad in Viterbo, Italy, he volunteered at a high school teaching American culture. He also spent time babysitting for an Italian family. During fall semester he interned for the local state senator in Chico, and also recently studied abroad in Brazil. We’re happy to have Corey joining us again this summer!
Rachel Cooperman
Environment Counselor, 1st Year Staff Member
Lewis and Clark College, Biology
We are excited to welcome Rachel to the Roughing It staff! She will be working as Environment Counselor this summer. Rachel attends Lewis and Clark College and is majoring in biology, with hopes of becoming a scientist. She plans on specializing in Marine Biology, and applying what she has learned to help conserve marine ecosystems. She is very active, and has played many team sports such as softball, swimming, and soccer. During the school year, she works in the cafeteria and enjoys going on outdoor trips in her spare time. Rachel is looking forward to bringing her positive, outgoing spirit to camp!
Jonathan Quinn
Outdoor Counselor, 1st Year Staff Member
California State University, Sacramento, Biochemistry
Jonathan is joining us for his first summer at Roughing It on the Reservoir staff. Growing up, Jonathan spent his summers camping, hiking, backpacking, and working at the Vacation Bible School at his church. He has also spent time volunteering regularly with a local elementary school assisting in a special education classroom. We’re excited for Jonathan to teach the campers about the outdoors this summer!
Austin Saechao
Sports Counselor, 1st Year Staff Member
California State University, Sacramento, Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration
Austin is joining us for his first summer at Roughing It! He currently attends California State University, Sacramento and is studying recreation, parks, and tourism administration, with an emphasis in recreation therapy. He has volunteered for various organizations such as the Alameda Food Bank, All Inclusive Recreation, and programs focused on helping the youth. Austin loves participating in outdoor activities, including camping, fishing, and mountain biking. We’re excited for Austin to bring his leadership skills and eagerness to camp this summer!
Ashley Webber
Crafts Counselor, 1st Year Staff Member
California State University, Long Beach, Psychology
We are excited to welcome Ashley to Roughing It this year! Ashley was a Junior Counselor at Roughing It, and will now be our Crafts Counselor this summer. She currently attends California State University, Long Beach and is majoring in psychology. She has been an active member in her church’s youth group and has created two new clubs at her high school. Ashley has tons of camp experience, and she is ready to help campers bring out their creative sides!
